I am currently reading this book in my free time. You could say it's still related to my research because it focuses on a personal migration history to America. I am still reading Part I which recounts rural life, childhood memories, innocence lost and dreams of a better life somewhere else. Just reading this part has so far pained me. I feel the hardship of the family ... their experience resonates the experience of the rural poor, of many more like them who are struggling with the injustices and large divide between the rich and poor, between urban and rural, between colonizer and colony, and even between ethnic groups.
