This is one band which I've wanting and wishing to watch ... I've been a fan since I heard their first song Come on NU107.5 during college.
This song inspires me to do my best, not to lose hope but keep moving forward. I may have dreams but I also know that I will not achieve them but that shouldn't keep me down. I should continue to work hard, keep a positive outlook in life and not waste my time being negative, depress and down. This is an appropriate song for now because I've just read a blog about graduate studies and it was very disillusioning and disheartening. It made me question myself (as I think I've always done) but the blog made it more real. Anyways, I was thinking about this when my ipod played this song. It made me look at my life in a different light. ... Kaya ko ito. This is another stage in my life that I just have to overcome.
I see your face all tired & weary
From battles fought, lost & won.
You take your chances
Fuck the consequence
Dive right in with no regrets
No regrets.
THERE'S NO POINT TO KEEP YOUR HEAD FACE DOWN
WHEN ALL WE SEE AND KNOW AND FEEL IS TEMPORARY
SPREAD YOUR ARMS AND KEEP YOUR HEAD HELD HIGH
GOOD THINGS ARE BETTER TAKEN IN
THE LESS YOU NOTICE.
Witness to a city that never sleeps
Where sins are made then buried
Doesn't matter how deep or hidden
It's always, always there.
Hold back the tears, there's little reprieve
If you show you are weak
You're accepting defeat
Pick up the pieces and dust yourself off
Then banner away.
Heaven won't wait
So don't hold back
Don't waste another minute
You carry all the weight
'Coz you think you got no worth
I'll be happy come the moment you've guessed it all.
This is your call to arms
So take in all you desire
Heaven won't wait so don't hold back
Now take it all.

My favorite radio station NU107.5 in the Philippines has decided to close down shop :( This really sadden me. NU107.5 was what got me through high school and university. I remember really getting into it around grade 7. It was here that I discovered all of this awesome and rocking bands, both local and international. This was one of the reasons I joined the musician organization in Ateneo even though I don't know how to play any instruments. Listening to the station was like a my security blanket.
To be honest, there is no other rock station like it. With this station gone, it's like broadcasting to the world that rock is dead in the Philippines :( I had thought that original Pinoy rock music is making a comeback so who will support this now?? What exactly happened? It feels so sudden ...
Even though I don't listen as much to the station because I'm already based overseas, I do once in awhile check it out. It's just difficult sometimes because of the internet connection. It can get crappy. But still, whenever I go back home for the holidays, the first thing I do once I'm in the car is to switch on to Nu107.5. When I hear the rocking blaring music from the car radio that's when I really know I'm home because it felt like I never left at all. That's how much NU107.5 has been part of my life.
Still can't believe it. Really? :( no more NU107.5? I am hoping that this is all just a marketing ploy and that they'll come back on air but in a new format, a format that doesn't involve POP or mainstream crap that we hear. I mean those genres are fine to each his own taste but keep NU107.5. It's like one of the last remaining stations that diversified our listening choices.

damn! now this is one concert I would love to go home and watch. from what I heard, he'll be coming on May 16, 2010 but no tickets being sold yet. I think the venue would be at MOA but then the sucky part is I think it's like an open venue :( shouldn't we be investing in building a really big concert/event venue? I think we could benefit a lot with that! problem I find in an open venue is that the sound can come out really bad and also crowd control is difficult. that's just my opinion unless they made some improvements already. i hope i can come home for this or better yet, i hope John Mayer comes here too!!! :(

Placebo is coming here in August. I haven't decided yet if I want to go watch them. I mean I like some of their songs like 'Running up the hill' and 'Every you, every me' but I haven't listened to any of their newer songs. ... Bahala na si batman.
So far, I haven't seen any other postings about other bands. Hopefully some good ones will come over. I don't want to count Air Supply or Rain as good concerts to attend. Although Il Divo will be having a concert in September, I am looking for some good old rock/alternative bands or maybe some R&B/Hiphop groups.

finally got it. going straight to Tom Lee Music this morning was a good move. There were only 5 of us in line at that store but I bet a lot purchased theirs online. I couldn't do it though since I didn't get myself a credit card here. For a minute there, I was worried I wouldn't even get a seat. The first man in line, about in his 40s-50s, took a long time purchasing tickets. He couldn't decided where to seat i think. The woman in front of me was sent by her kids who I'm assuming were in school to buy them the tickets. Her child even wrote on a piece of paper where they wanted to be seated, etc. Wow. I found it easy to score a ticket because I was going by myself. Yes, I will enjoy it alone but who cares if I have companions with me. This is a golden chance! I asked one local friend of mine if she wanted to come but she said she didn't want to go because she didn't know the group. ... oohkay. Hopefully, this doesn't coincide with my family's visit in March. ... bahala na si batman!

yey! i made my first video using iMovie. i've never tried using that application. i guess you could say, i don't have the patience in editing and stuff but i decided to put all the short clips i had in one video to show what the concert was like. i mostly took clips of the songs that i really liked and if you'll notice i didn't spend a long time videotaping them ;P i went there to enjoy their live performance, not to end up videotaping everything hehe. but truly, i liked their concert!
it was a good thing i was really close to the stage and right at the middle of it as well so i had some good shots but the girls in front of me kept raising their hands and pointing their phones and digicams so there were times it was difficult to take a picture.
good thing the girls were short so when they put down their arms, i got some good views. thing is, my camera isn't as great as it was before.
it was difficult to get good shots because they were moving around a lot on stage although there were times they were just standing still. i guess it was part of their act but good photo op. besides that, it was difficult because of the lighting. they performed for an hour and played all their tracks! they opened with "We Walk" and ended it with "That's not my name". looking around though, there weren't a lot of people who went to the concert. the balcony seats were close to pack but the standing area where i was, i think it only got half way full. i don't think a lot of people are familiar with the band. but i didn't care anymore! it's been awhile since I was head banging and jumping at a live concert! good vibes :P
but still looking around, you get a variety of people who came out to enjoy the show. there were expats, international students, twentysomethings, and kids. there were a few group of kids i think mostly from int'l schools who pretty much annoyed me. sobrang perky kasi, nakakasira ng mood heh. interestingly enough, i met another fellow filipino. she was the chaperone for her charges. naloka nga ako e kasi nasa likod ko lang siya and we were front and center of the stage. natawa lang ako kasi i don't think she really knows the band but got lucky enough to watch it because she needed to guard her wards. we chitchat a little.
Can't wait to catch another interesting concert.
